Biography of Luang Pu Due Phrompanyo and Luang Pu See Phinthasuwanno, Wat Sakae These are two renowned masters from Wat Sakae (Wat Sakae, Tambon Thanu, Amphoe Uthai, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province). The temple is famous for its vipassana meditation practice and serene atmosphere. Devotees continuously visit to practice Dhamma, pay respects to the preserved bodies or wax images, especially Luang Pu Due, who is legendary for composing the Maha Chakraphat Mantra. Luang Pu See, his senior fellow disciple, helped develop the temple and initiated the creation of sacred objects in the Phrom See Na (Four-Faced Brahma) line.

Luang Pu Due Phrompanyo (Phra Phrompanyo)

  • Birth: April 29, BE 2447 (1904, on the full moon day of the 6th lunar month, Year of the Dragon – coinciding with Visakha Bucha Day) in the Uthai area, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Original name Due Nu See (or family name Nu See). His family was poor, working as rice farmers and selling auspicious sweets. His mother passed away when he was very young, and his father died when he was 4 years old, so he was raised by his grandmother and older sister.
  • Childhood: Studied at Wat Klang Khlong Sa Bua, Wat Pradu Song Tham, and Wat Niwet Thammaprawat Rajaworawihan. He became interested in magical knowledge (such as invulnerability spells) because he wanted revenge on bandits who robbed his home, but later he turned seriously to genuine Dhamma practice.
  • Ordination: At age 21, on May 10, BE 2468 (1925, Sunday, waning 4th day of the 6th lunar month), he was ordained at Wat Sakae.
    • Preceptor: Luang Pho Klan Thammachoti (Wat Phra Yai Kari Ram)
    • Dhamma name: Phrompanyo (one who has wisdom like Brahma).
  • Monastic Life: He spent his entire monastic life residing at Wat Sakae (never leaving the temple for long periods). He focused on vipassana meditation, teaching in great detail. He spoke little, but his words carried great power (waja siddhi). His teaching methods were profound and gradual, never arrogant, always treating everyone equally.
  • Fame: He composed the Maha Chakraphat Mantra (a life-changing chant for turning bad luck to good, resolving obstacles, improving fate, and attracting fortune). In his final 33 years, he never left the temple until his passing.
  • Passing: January 17, BE 2533 (1990), aged 86, with 65 rains (pansa). Today, his wax image and memorial pavilion are enshrined at the temple. Devotees hold annual birthday memorial ceremonies.

Luang Pu See (or Luang Pu Sri) Phinthasuwanno

  • Birth: July 22, BE 2438 (1895, Sunday, 8th lunar month, Year of the Goat) in Tambon Krachiu, Amphoe Uthai, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Original name See Bamrungkit. His father was named Kuan, mother named Lek. He was the eldest of six siblings.
  • Childhood: Ordained as a novice at age 12 at Wat Ratchaburana (Wat Liap), Bangkok. Studied Thai language and Mulakaccayana grammar with Phra Ajahn Phong and Phra Ajahn Yang; he was diligent and loved by his teachers.
  • Ordination: Ordained as a monk at age 20 at Wat Sakae.
    • Preceptor: Luang Pho Klan Thammachoti (Wat Phra Yai Kari Ram)
    • Karmavaca Teacher: Luang Pho Dae, Wat Sakae
    • Anusavana Teacher: Luang Pho Phut, Wat Sakae
    • Dhamma name: Phinthasuwanno
  • Life and Works: He resided at Wat Sakae for 66 years (BE 2458–2526 / 1915–1983). He remained an ordinary monk without ecclesiastical titles. Initially interested in sorcery and Buddhist magic, he later focused on temple development (repairing and building the ubosot, sala, etc.) during the abbotship of Luang Pu Yai Tinnasuwanno. He officially began creating sacred objects in BE 2493 (1950), especially the Phrom See Na (Four-Faced Brahma) line, in collaboration with Ajarn Heng Phraiwan.
  • Fame: As the senior disciple of Luang Pho Klan (same teacher as Luang Pu Due), he is renowned for Phrom See Na amulets and protective/charms objects with great metta and invulnerability power.
  • Passing: BE 2526 (1983), aged approximately 88. His body remains a revered object of veneration.
