History and Creation Details of Phra Kring R.D., Chao Khun Nor, Wat Thepsirin, Year 2513 BE

History of Creation The Phra Kring R.D. was created in the year 2513 BE (1970 AD) by the Territorial Defense Department (R.D.), Ministry of Defense. The primary purpose of this creation was to boost the morale and spirit of military officers, conscripts, and territorial defense students (R.D.), as well as to allow the general public to make merit by acquiring the amulets, with the proceeds going to the welfare fund of the Territorial Defense Department. This Phra Kring model features beautiful Buddhist art typical of Thai Kring amulets. The distinct and prominent identity is located at the base of the Buddha, which is stamped with the emblem code of the Territorial Defense Department, depicting “crossed swords under a royal crown” (as seen in the image), serving as a clear confirmation of authenticity and origin.

Deep Dive into the Materials The preparation of materials for casting the Phra Kring R.D. was grand and followed ancient formulas. It used “Nawa Loha” (Nine Auspicious Sacred Metals) as the core material, combined with Yantra foils and hand-inscribed metal plates sent by renowned monk masters nationwide at that time to participate in the ceremony. In addition, old Takruts, metallic mass from older Phra Kring generations, and various mystical metals, including gold, silver, copper, and brass, were melted together under high heat until perfectly amalgamated. This gives the surface of this Phra Kring a taut texture with a rich, slightly greenish-brown metallic sheen. Inside the amulet, a Kring bead cast from sacred metal is enshrined. When shaken, it produces a resonant sound, symbolizing the calling of good fortune and resounding fame.

Rituals and Consecration The consecration ceremony of the Phra Kring R.D. is considered one of the greatest historical ceremonies of Wat Thepsirin. It was held on the highly auspicious day of December 5, 2513 BE. This batch of Phra Kring received a solitary mental empowerment and blessing by “Chao Khun Nor” (Phraraja Sangwaraphimon or Dhammaditakko Bhikkhu), the city-dwelling Arhat known for his absolutely pure monastic discipline and who never accepted invitations outside the temple. He radiated loving-kindness and mentally empowered them with his supremely strong and pure mental faculties, invoking the virtues of the Lord Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Noble Sangha to be fully imbued into every single Phra Kring. This made the sacred objects blessed by him immensely powerful with universal protective qualities, relying not on flamboyant chanting ceremonies, but entirely on the supreme purity of his mind.

Experiences of the Worshippers The miraculous experiences associated with the Phra Kring R.D. of Chao Khun Nor are highly renowned, especially among soldiers, civil servants, and those working in high-risk environments. The most outstanding attributes are “Klaew Klaad” (evasion of danger and safety) and “Maha Ud / Kong Grapan Chatri” (invulnerability to weapons). There are numerous accounts from soldiers serving in battlefields who, despite being ambushed or stepping on landmines, miraculously survived without a single scratch. Furthermore, those who wear it also experience great loving-kindness (Metta Mahaniyom), career advancement, promotions, and a peaceful life. It is truly a military-lineage Phra Kring filled with the sacred power of a pure Noble Monk.
