History and Creation Details of Khun Phaen, Luang Phor Thoon, Wat Pho Nimit, Rear Side with Kumarn Holding a Sword, Powder Material, B.E. 2493-2495
This Khun Phaen amulet is a Khun Phaen Kumarn Thong (also known as Khun Phaen with Kumarn Thong standing holding a sword on the reverse, or Khun Phaen with a warrior Kumarn holding a sword). It was created by Luang Phor Thoon Attathipo (Phra Phothisangwon Thera), the former abbot of Wat Pho Nimit Sathit Maha Simaram (Wat Pho Nimit), Bang Yi Ruea Sub-district, Thonburi District, Bangkok.
Luang Phor Thoon was born on 31 July B.E. 2453 in Tambon Talat Chan, Amphoe Mueang, Suphan Buri Province. He was a disciple of Somdet Phra Phutthacharn (Nawam) of Wat Anongkharam and was renowned as a guru monk of the mid-Buddhist era who specialized in creating sacred amulets using holy powders and powerful consecration.
Creation Details
- Year of Creation: Created during B.E. 2493-2495 (the main and first batch was in B.E. 2495). This is the first edition of this particular Khun Phaen mold created by Luang Phor Thoon.
- Mold: Khun Phaen standing and holding a sword. The reverse side features a Kumarn Thong standing and holding a sword (Kumarn going to battle / Kumarn holding a sword).
- Material: Powder material (Din Phaeng). The main ingredients are soil from seven cemeteries, mixed with children’s bones, Luang Phor Thoon’s personal sacred powders, powders from Luang Pu Toh of Wat Pradue Chimphlee, powders from Somdet Phra Phutthacharn (Nawam) of Wat Anongkharam, ground powders from broken Khun Phaen Ban Krang (Suphan Buri), and many other holy substances.
- Appearance: Press-molded clay amulet, the surface may show two-tone or dark coloration depending on the firing and mixture of materials. Produced in limited quantity.
- Consecration: Luang Phor Thoon himself created and was the main consecrator. Several other guru monks also participated in the blessing, including Somdet Phra Phutthacharn (Nawam), Luang Pu Toh, and other masters.
This Khun Phaen is considered an early and highly revered amulet from Luang Phor Thoon’s early period, popular in the line of Maha Saneh, Maha Metta, and powerful Kumarn Thong.
