History and Creation The Bia Gae (Cowrie Shell Amulet) lineage of Wat Klang Bang Kaeo, Nakhon Pathom Province, is considered the number one academy in Thailand for creating Bia Gae. The magical knowledge has been passed down from the era of Luang Pu Bun, Luang Pu Perm, and Luang Pu Juea, reaching the current era of “Luang Phor Kong” or “Phra Ajahn Sanya Kamasuddho,” the biological nephew and top disciple who inherited all the magical arts from Luang Pu Juea. For this “Naked Bia Gae, Year 2022 (B.E. 2565),” it was created by the request of disciples who wanted to clearly see the “hand-engraved Yantra characters.” The term “Naked” means the Bia Gae that has been filled with mercury and covered with lead, but is not braided with cord and coated with lacquer. This allows the lead surface and Luang Phor Kong’s unique handwriting of the Yantra to be visible, making it easy to authenticate and providing a different kind of classic aesthetic.
Deep Dive into Sacred Materials Despite being a naked Bia Gae, the internal materials retain the intense magical power according to the exact Wat Klang Bang Kaeo formula, comprising:
-
Cowrie Shell (Bia Gae): The shells must be selected to have exactly 32 teeth according to the ancient texts, representing the 32 parts of the human body, so that the amulet has life and can protect the bearer.
-
Wild Mercury or Consecrated Mercury: A mystical material with the power to devour evil things. Luang Phor Kong uses incantations to call the mercury to run into the shell using his mental power.
-
Underground Stingless Bee Wax (Chanrong): A naturally powerful substance used to seal the mouth of the shell to prevent the mercury from leaking. It is believed to possess powers of immense fortune and invulnerability (Maha Ud).
-
Rolled Lead Sheet: Used to wrap and cover the shell as another layer, providing a surface for engraving the sacred Yantra characters.
Consecration and Empowerment Rituals Luang Phor Kong performs the consecration rituals following the ancient traditions of Wat Klang Bang Kaeo. He meditates and hand-engraves the Yantra characters one by one (handwritten engraving). The most commonly engraved characters are the “Yant of the Five Buddhas” (Na Mo Put Taa Ya) and “Yant Thoh Maha Phrom,” including various protective spells. He empowers them with magical incantations until the mercury inside the shell vibrates, making a “khluk-khluk” sound when shaken. This is a symbol that the Bia Gae has been filled with the energy of Buddhist virtues and the spirit of protection.
Experiences of Believers The Naked Bia Gae, Luang Phor Kong, Year 2022, has outstanding experiences regarding “curing inauspiciousness and preventing black magic.” Those who carry it often escape from mysterious negative energies (Lom Pay Lom Pat), dark magic curses, or even road accidents (evasion of danger/Klaew Klaad). Moreover, many people find that when their luck is down or they face misfortune, the Bia Gae helps “turn bad into good,” reviving their destiny to be smoother. The fact that the amulet is naked and displays the engraved marks allows the worshippers to feel reassured and closely touch the powerful prestige of Luang Phor Kong through the lines of the engravings. It is considered an ultimate protective talisman that one should carry.
