History and Creation Details of Luang Pho Tae’s Five Buddhas Takrut Set, Wat Sam Ngam (Copper Material, B.E. 2480–2520 / 1937–1977 A.D.)
1. Creator and Motive for Creation
-
Creator: Luang Pho Tae Khongthong, the legendary master monk of the Tha Chin River Basin, renowned as the creator of famous Kuman Thong and invincible protective amulets.
-
Concept and Belief: The “Five Buddhas” (Na Mo Put Tha Ya) spell represents the supreme auspicious incantation and the master formula of all Thai magic spells. Luang Pho Tae inscribed these sacred Yantra onto 5 copper Takrut scrolls and woven them together to be worn around the waist for all-around protection.
2. Creation Era and Timeline (Around B.E. 2480–2520 / 1937–1977 A.D.)
The collector community categorizes Luang Pho Tae’s Five Buddhas Takrut waist cords into two main eras:
-
Early Era (Approx. B.E. 2497 / 1954 A.D.): Features copper Takrut scrolls woven with traditional jute or hemp rope. The overall material exhibits a dry, classic aged texture (commonly referred to among collectors as the “Tiger Invincibility” batch or wartime era).
-
Later / Mid-to-Late Era (Approx. B.E. 2510–2516 / 1967–1973 A.D. Onward): Retains the signature copper Takrut scrolls, but the waist cord was changed to nylon rope, which comes in various colors popular among devotees during that period.
3. Physical Characteristics and Unique Features
-
Takrut Body: Made from rolled copper sheets inscribed with sacred characters representing the Five Buddhas formula. Formed into cylindrical scrolls (crafted by hand following traditional standards, approximately 1.75 inches long). A total of 5 Takrut scrolls are woven into a single waist cord set.
-
Rope Weaving: Woven tightly around both ends of each scroll and tied using traditional knotting techniques to ensure durability for everyday wear.
4. Sacred Blessings and Auspicious Powers (Phuttakhun)
-
Highly celebrated for invincibility, bullet/weapon containment (Maha Utsam), and evasion of danger (Klaew Klaad), backed by numerous firsthand accounts from old-time devotees.
-
Imbued with strong charm, loving-kindness, and prosperity blessings, as the Five Buddhas spell is a universal incantation traditionally used by ancient masters to grant progress and fortune to believers.
(Phuttakhun)
-
