History of the Creation of Takrud (Hand-Inscribed) by Luang Phor Chamnian, Wat Tham Suea, Krabi Province

Luang Phor Chamnian Sila Settho (also known as Phra Supatipanno) is the former abbot and head monk of Wat Tham Suea, Krabi Province. He is renowned for his great compassion, strict meditation practice, and powerful magical knowledge, especially in hand-inscribed Takrud (Takrud Jarmue) which he inscribed by himself using ancient Khmer script and specific incantations of his lineage.

Creation of the Hand-Inscribed Takrud Most of Luang Phor Chamnian’s Takrud are hand-inscribed directly by him, not cast or molded like ordinary amulets. He would use metal sheets (such as brass, silver, or copper) or special materials like tiger skin (especially forehead tiger skin in the early period) as the base, then inscribe mantras, yant, and spells with his bare hand. The script has a distinctive curved, beautiful, and powerfully unique style.

Common types found include:

  • Small-sized Takrud (approximately 3 cm in length)
  • Medium to large-sized Takrud (2 inches or more, up to 5-6 cm)
  • Tiger skin Takrud (both small and large patterns, some sets come with both sizes and a cord)
  • Some versions are Takrud Luk Om or seven-color thread Takrud

Approximate Year of Creation

  • There is clear evidence from amulets directly released by the temple that they were created and distributed in B.E. 2538 (corresponding to the small 3 cm Takrud with the original temple casing).
  • The early period (forehead tiger skin Takrud) was likely created before 2538 or from the 2530s onwards, because he inscribed them by hand and produced very limited quantities, especially the large size (6 cm and above), which is considered the rarest.
  • He continued creating Takrud over many periods without clearly marking the year on every piece, but the year 2538 is the one with clear records and official release from the temple.

Powers Believed by Devotees The hand-inscribed Takrud of Luang Phor Chamnian is famous for Maha Metta, Maha Saneh, Maha Niyom, great authority, invulnerability, protection from black magic, attracting fortune, and strong safeguarding for the wearer. People in Krabi and devotees highly respect them because the master inscribed and consecrated them directly with his own psychic power and compassion.
