History and Creation Information of Singha Nga Kae (สิงห์งาแกะ) by Luang Phor Kway (หลวงพ่อกวย), Wat Khosit Tharam (วัดโฆสิตาราม), B.E. 2521 (พ.

The Singha Nga Kae (สิงห์งาแกะ, carved ivory lion) of Luang Phor Kway (หลวงพ่อกวย) Chutinthonro (ชุตินฺธโร), Wat Khosit Tharam (วัดโฆสิตาราม หรือ วัดบ้านแค), Chai Nat Province (จังหวัดชัยนาท), created in B.E. 2521 (A.D. 1978), is one of the important sacred amulets and talismans of Luang Phor Kway.

History and Creation Details Created on the occasion of the Phuk Phatthasima ceremony (ผูกพัทธสีมา, consecration of the ordination hall boundary) or Fang Luk Nimit (ฝังลูกนิมิต, burial of boundary stones) at Wat Khosit Tharam in B.E. 2521. This was during the period when the temple was renovating the ubosot (ordination hall) or performing important ceremonies related to establishing the sacred boundary of the ordination hall.

Main Material Primarily made from nga chang kae (งาช้างแกะ, carved elephant ivory) in the shape of a lion. These were pre-carved ivory lions made by local craftsmen (mostly from Nakhon Sawan Province). The craftsmen carved them in finished form and sold or offered them to various revered monks, including Luang Phor Kway of Wat Khao Kaeo, Luang Phor Mui of Wat Don Rai, and others. However, the pieces blessed by Luang Phor Kway are the rarest and scarcest in this group, making them highly sought after and difficult to find.

Design and Appearance

  • Small Singha (สิงห์, lion) figure, easy to carry and wear.
  • Usually has a hole for a chain or cord to wear as a pendant.
  • Some pieces include Sarika (สาริกา, mythical love bird) elements (known as Singha Sarika Nga Kae).
  • Most original frames from the temple are old-style casings (some plastic or vintage metal frames with signs of age and wear).

Consecration Ceremony (ปลุกเสก) Blessed personally by Luang Phor Kway in the same ceremony as other amulets from that period, such as the 2521 Yant-back coin, Hanuman-back coin, or items from the boundary stone burial ceremony. Luang Phor Kway was renowned for his expertise in talismans and magical objects (he studied under Luang Phor Doem, including knife-making and protective charms). The lion is considered one of the top-tier items in this lineage, excelling in Maha Amnat (มหาอำนาจ, great authority and power).

Powers and Attributes (พุทธคุณ)

  • Maha Amnat Maha Barami (มหาอำนาจมหาบารมี, great authority and majestic prestige): Enhances charisma, influence, promotion, career advancement; suitable for leaders, government officials, executives.
  • Metta Maha Niyom (เมตตามหานิยม, great loving-kindness and likability): Makes the wearer loved, respected, feared in a positive way; superiors show kindness and support.
  • Klaew Klad Kongkraphan (แคล้วคลาดคงกระพัน, evasion of danger and invulnerability): Protects from accidents and harm.
  • Protection against black magic, curses, and evil influences.
  • Brings good fortune, career progress, longevity, good health, and overall auspiciousness (according to devotee experiences and testimonies).

Quantity Created No exact number recorded, but considered very rare because it was distributed directly from the temple during this major event. Fewer in number compared to similar items from other masters in the same group (for example, Luang Phor Mui’s versions are more common).
