History and Creation The “Phra Phong Mi Kin” (Having Enough to Eat Powder Amulet) of the year 1975 (B.E. 2518) is an ultimate sacred object created by “Ajahn Loy Pho Ngoen” (who lived on a boat), a supreme laymaster of magical arts in the old capital city of Ayutthaya, and the number one legend in creating “Hun Phayon” (magical effigies) in Thailand. This batch of powder amulets was created with Ajahn Loy’s pure intention to make sacred objects to sustain Buddhism and to distribute as a spiritual anchor for the villagers. He manually pressed the amulet molds himself, along with the temple monks, at Wat Rattanachai (Wat Jin). The edition name “Mi Kin” (Having Enough to Eat) is an auspicious title purposefully given by Ajahn Loy to bless the worshippers with abundance, smooth livelihoods, and to never face starvation. This amulet batch features several molds, such as the Somdej mold, Khun Phaen mold, Lotus Petal mold (Khun Phaen Bai Phutsa), and Nang Kwak mold, which mostly have an oil-based powder texture (Nuea Phong Namman). Some pieces are coated with shellac to preserve the surface.

Deep Dive into Sacred Materials The materials of the Phra Phong Mi Kin are considered extremely magical and highly unique. Ajahn Loy gathered the crucial materials himself, comprising:

  • Buddhakhun Powder and Magical Powders: Obtained by grinding broken pieces of old Somdej amulets and old powder amulets that he had collected, serving as the primary material.

  • 108 Auspicious Herbs (Waan): Specially selected herbs possessing magical properties for great loving-kindness and wealth, such as Waan Sao Long, Waan Maha Setthi, and the tops of the Rak Son plant.

  • Woven Palm Leaf Fragments from Hun Phayon: Considered the ultimate highlight and the secret material of this edition; the leftover palm leaf fragments from weaving his legendary “Hun Phayon” were ground and mixed in. This imbues the powder amulet with the hidden magical power of the Hun Phayon as well.

  • Binding Agents: Using white lime, Namwa bananas, flower pollen, cooked rice, and Tang-iw oil (tung oil) to make the amulet’s texture soft yet dense, strong, and durable, resulting in a beautiful oil-based powder characteristic.

Consecration and Empowerment Rituals The greatness of the Phra Phong Mi Kin is not limited to Ajahn Loy’s intense solo empowerment. After he consecrated them until they were flawless, he brought this entire batch of powder amulets to participate in a historic grand consecration ceremony known as the “Chaturapitpornchai Ceremony” at Wat Rattanachai (Wat Jin), Ayutthaya Province, on June 1, 1975. This ceremony was initiated by Mr. Rian Numdee, who received the mercy of “Luang Pu Doo of Wat Sakae” to act as an advisor and to pre-meditate on the objects for a full month. Then, on the day of the ceremony, 16 top renowned master monks of the era were invited to jointly meditate and bless the amulets. These included Luang Pu Toh of Wat Pradoochimplee, Luang Phor Kuay of Wat Kositaram, Luang Phor Phrae of Wat Pikul Thong, Luang Phor Nor of Wat Klang Tha Ruea, and Luang Phor Nai of Wat Ban Chaeng. This truly gives this edition universal protective and blessing powers.

Experiences of Believers Those who carry the Phra Phong Mi Kin of Ajahn Loy Pho Ngoen experience exactly what the name suggests: “having enough to eat and use, never starving.” It is highly outstanding in terms of wealth, prosperous trade, smooth business negotiations, and possessing immense great loving-kindness (Metta Mahaniyom); whoever sees them will love and assist them. Furthermore, due to the material containing Hun Phayon palm leaf fragments and being consecrated by Luang Phor Kuay and top monks in the Chaturapitpornchai ceremony, there are undeniable experiences of evading danger (Klaew Klaad) and protection against perils and black magic. It is considered a hidden gem (compared to his Hun Phayon, which costs hundreds of thousands of Baht) that deep collectors eagerly seek out.
