History and Creation Information of Phra Somdej by Luang Phor Thongyoo, Wat Mai Nong Pha Ong, Year 2519, Powder Material

Phra Somdej powder material by Luang Phor Thongyoo, Wat Mai Nong Pha Ong (or Wat Mai Nong Pha Ong), Samut Sakhon Province, B.E. 2519 (1976) is one of the sacred amulets created during the later period while Luang Phor Thongyoo was still alive.

Brief Biography of Luang Phor Thongyoo Luang Phor Thongyoo (Phra Kru Suthathikari), birth name Thongyoo Chomprarop (later changed surname to Singhaseni), born on Saturday, May 7, B.E. 2430 (1887). He was a renowned guru monk of Samut Sakhon lineage, contemporary with Luang Pu To Wat Pradu Chimphli and Luang Phor Sud Wat Ka Long. He was ordained at Wat Mai Nong Pha Ong and became abbot from around B.E. 2473–2475 (1930–1932) onward. He was highly skilled in magical knowledge, especially the creation of the five sacred powders (Pathamang, Itthije, Maharaj, Phutthakhun, Trinisinhe) according to the recipe of Somdet Phra Phutthacharn (To Phromrangsi). He passed away on December 16, B.E. 2526 (1983) at the age of 96 years, 65 rains.

Creation Details of Phra Somdej Powder Material, Year 2519 All Phra Somdej powder amulets by Luang Phor Thongyoo were handmade by him personally, using sacred powder that he had collected for many years, mixed with various sacred powders that he had ground and newly prepared, such as broken powder from the ancient Chedi of Wat Rakhang, Wat Bang Khun Phrom, and other important powders. Sometimes mixed with palm leaf powder (causing dark or black color) and occasionally blended with sandalwood oil to enhance the spiritual power. The main blessings are Metta Maha Niyom (great charm and popularity), wealth attraction, Kongkaphan Chatri (invulnerability), and Klaew Klaad (danger evasion).

In B.E. 2519, Luang Phor was already very elderly (around 89 years old), so the creation quantity was not large. They were usually made as commemorative editions or distributed during important events, such as birthday anniversary ceremonies or temple activities. The most commonly seen mold is the “back tiger” design (or running tiger back), which has been his signature since earlier periods. Some pieces are white powder or palm leaf powder, with very hard and solid texture. He consecrated them with strong mental power according to his traditional method.

Phra Somdej powder material from B.E. 2519 is therefore considered a late-period creation directly made by him personally, highly regarded for its spiritual potency among disciples and collectors. Pieces that include older sacred materials mixed in are even rarer.
