Phra Somdej Jaew Ruea Chang by Luang Pho Toon, Wat Pho Nimit (B.E. 2512 / 1969)
is a major sacred powder amulet created by Phra Ratchawatcharaphorn (Luang Pho Toon Attateepo), former abbot of Wat Pho Nimit Sathit Maha Simaram in Bang Yi Ruea, Thonburi, Bangkok. He was a principal disciple of Somdej Phra Puttacharn (Nuam) of Wat Anongkaram and Somdej Phra Sangkharat (Phae) of Wat Suthat Thepwararam.
Origin of the Name ‘Jaew Ruea Chang’ (The Ferryman)
The name ‘Jaew Ruea Chang’ (literally ‘rowing a ferryboat’) stems from Luang Pho Toon’s intention in creating this amulet. He likened himself, his teachers, and the monastic community to ‘ferrymen’ whose duty is to row disciples and devotees safely through life’s stormy obstacles toward success, prosperity, and the fulfillment of their dreams without expecting any reward in return. Proceeds raised from the distribution of these amulets were dedicated to supporting education, constructing school buildings, and funding Dhamma and Pali studies for monks, novices, and local youth.
Sacred Ingredients (Muan San)
Luang Pho Toon was renowned for creating sacred holy powders and gathering rare consecrated materials. Key ingredients in this Phra Somdej edition include:
* Five Sacred Powders: Itthije, Pathamang, Maharaj, and Treenisinghe powders, as well as holy powders written and erased by Luang Pho Toon himself following ancient formulas.
* Old Shrine Somdej Powders: Authentic sacred powders from Wat Rakang Kositaram and Wat Bang Khun Phrom handed down by Somdej Phra Puttacharn (Nuam) of Wat Anongkaram.
* Ancient Shrine & Master Powders: Powders from Wat Sam Pluem and Wat Kesh Chaiyo ancient shrines, as well as holy powders from Luang Pu Suk (Wat Pak Khlong Makham Tao) and Luang Pho Sod (Wat Paknam Bhasicharoen).
