Information on the creation of Phra Rod Chong Ang Suek by Luang Pho Phae, Wat Phikun Thong, year B.E. 2514, powder material

Phra Rod (phra rod) Chong Ang Suek edition by Luang Pho Phae of Wat Phikun Thong, Tha Chang District, Sing Buri Province. This powder amulet (phra neua phong) was created in B.E. 2514 specifically to be given to Thai soldiers deployed with the mixed Thai forces in the Vietnam War (known as the “Chong Ang Suek” unit). It is renowned for klaew klad (evasion of danger), yu yong khong kraphan (invulnerability), protection from all kinds of harm, and comprehensive sacred power, especially for surviving war and life-threatening situations.

Creation and Main Materials

  • Year created: B.E. 2514 (1971). This is considered the first batch of the Chong Ang Suek series.
  • Material: Primarily sacred bai lan leaf powder (phong bai lan). Some pieces are mixed with 108 pollens or 108 flower essences. Colors vary (some red powder, white powder, or reddish-brown). The amulet is small, approximately 1.4 x 2.7 cm. The back features a yantra (such as overlapping Buddha yantra or standard yantra). Originally coated with lacquer to protect the surface.
  • Sacred substances: Made from sacred bai lan powder blended with other ingredients according to Luang Pho Phae’s formula. He was famous for powder amulets and protective talismans. Some pieces show red or white tones depending on the mixture.
  • Form: Standard Phra Rod mold (small, tall shape). Often cased in silver or silver frames. Some sets include a matching Phra Pidta from the same period. The exact number created is not clearly recorded, but they were made for distribution to soldiers and devotees during ceremonies, making pristine original examples rare today.

Consecration

  • Primarily consecrated by Luang Pho Phae himself. He was a highly revered monk in Sing Buri with strong sacred power in mahaut (great power) and protection from danger.
  • The ceremony used ancient methods to enhance the amulet’s ability to evade harm, suitable for wartime conditions. Some sources mention other monks joining the consecration according to the era’s customs, but Luang Pho Phae was the main figure.
  • Prominent blessings: Klaew klad, yu yong khong kraphan, protection from weapons and disasters, survival through war and accidents, metta maha niyom, enhancement of destiny (supported by real experiences of devotees who survived the Vietnam War and various dangerous incidents).

The Phra Rod Chong Ang Suek of B.E. 2514 is a rare and legendary amulet from Luang Pho Phae of Wat Phikun Thong. It is highly sought after by devotees seeking protection and evasion of danger, especially in original lacquered condition with clear back yantra.
