(High-Base Mold) — also widely known in amulet circles as Phra Kring R.D. 2505 — is recognized as one of the most distinguished ringing Buddha amulets associated with Chao Khun Norarat Ratchamanit (Chao Khun Nor) of Wat Thepsirintrawat, possessing a well-documented creation history, a grand consecration ceremony, and high popularity.

1. Origins and Creation

This Phra Kring edition was created in 1962 (B.E. 2505) by the Territorial Defense Department (R.D.), led by Lieutenant General Yut Somboon (then Commander of the Territorial Defense Department) as the chairman of the organizing committee.
The primary objectives of the creation were:
  1. To distribute among government officials, military personnel, police officers, and Territorial Defense Students (Reserve Officer Training Corps / ROTC) as a spiritual anchor and protective charm.
  2. To offer to devout supporters who contributed donations toward the charitable activities of the Territorial Defense Department.

2. Mold Types and Characteristics (High-Base Mold)

Phra Kring R.D. 1962 amulets are primarily categorized based on the height of their bases:
  • High-Base Mold (Most Popular): The most sought-after mold. The Buddha figure sits in meditation on a single-tier lotus pedestal, but the “bottom-most throne base” is noticeably raised higher than standard molds, giving the statue a stately, well-proportioned, and prominent aesthetic.
  • Iconography: Modeled after the classic Phra Kring Yai / Phra Kring Pawa-res style. The figure is elegant, holding a medicine pot in the left hand, resting the right hand on the knee in a blessing posture, with a smooth, unadorned back.
  • Materials & Base: Mostly cast in Samrit (Bronze) / Dark-plated Brass, or mixed alloys. The base features a hollowed chamber containing a small metal ball, sealed with the same type of metal alloy. When shaken, it produces a clear, melodious ringing sound.

4. Consecration Ceremony and Blessings

Stage 1: Grand Consecration at the Territorial Defense Department (1962)

An official consecration ceremony was held at the ordination hall / ceremonial grounds of the Territorial Defense Department, featuring sacred chantings and meditative empowerment by top master monks of that era, such as Luang Pho Chong (Wat Nang Tang Nok), Luang Pu Toh (Wat Pradou Chimphli), Luang Pho Ngen (Wat Don Yai Hom), and Luang Pho Tae (Wat Sam Ngam).

Stage 2: Spiritual Empowerment by Chao Khun Nor (Wat Thepsirin)

Following the first ceremony, the organizers brought all the amulets into the Ubosot of Wat Thepsirintrawat to seek special loving-kindness blessings from Chao Khun Norarat Ratchamanit (Chao Khun Nor). Chao Khun Nor performed a pure and powerful meditative chant, elevating this Phra Kring edition into one of the most highly revered amulets in the Chao Khun Nor lineage.
