Head of Namo (Namo Coin) by Archan Chum Chaikiri, Wat Phra Borommathat (B.E. 2513–2514)
The Head of Namo / Namo Coin (Hua Namo) created by Archan Chum Chaikiri at Wat Phra Borommathat Woramahawihan, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province (B.E. 2513–2514 / 1970–1971), is regarded as a master-class sacred amulet of Southern Thailand and the Khao Or lineage. It was crafted in strict accordance with ancient Srivijaya treatises dating back over 1,500 years to revive the sacred Namo coinage ritual under the royal patronage of H.R.H. Prince Chalermphon Dhighambara, alongside Archan Chum Chaikiri and his devoted disciples.
History, Significance, and the Srivijaya Realm
Namo coinage is an ancient sacred charm and historical currency unique to Nakhon Si Thammarat since the Srivijaya Kingdom era. Historically, it served both as legal tender and as a consecrated amulet buried along city walls and boundaries to ward off plagues, disasters, and foreign enemies.
This creation gathered sacred knowledge and materials from three historic center cities of the ancient Srivijaya Empire: Phatthalung, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Chaiya. These lands represent two great historical dynasties—Sailendra and Padmavamsa. Furthermore, this realm was where the Arahant disciples first introduced Buddhism in the early Buddhist era, establishing a legendary cradle of occult knowledge anchored by the sacred Phra Borommathat Stupas in all three cities.
Sacred Ingredients (Muan San) and Ancient Craftsmanship
The collection of sacred materials followed original ancient formulas meticulously:
-
Ancient Namo Coinage: Pure 100% silver ancient Namo coins retrieved from ancient shrines (Kru) and family heirlooms passed down by elders across the three historic cities.
-
1,800 Yantra Foils: 1,800 hand-inscribed sacred Yantra sheets contributed by revered master monks from Phatthalung, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Chaiya.
-
Sacred Minerals and Nawaloha: Consecrated nine-metal alloy (Nawaloha), sacred metal elements from stupa pinnacles, and ancient mineral ores blended according to ancient texts.
-
Amulet Design: Cast into “Namo Coins” and “Namo Kanaen Coins” (Srivijaya Score Coins). One side features a Buddha image in Srivijaya artistic style, while the other side bears the sacred ancient Namo character.
Casting Ceremony at the Stupa Shrine Grounds (B.E. 2513)
-
Wednesday, November 25, B.E. 2513 (1970) at 9:00 AM: Brahmins and astrologers performed sacrificial rites to honor heavenly deities and auspicious astrology. Nine master monks sat in meditative prayer within the ceremonial pavilion while another nine monks recited auspicious victory chants (Chaiya Mongkol Katha).
-
Melting Ritual: Monks, Brahmins, and respected elders placed ancient Namo coins, 1,800 Yantra foils, and sacred Nawaloha minerals into smelting crucibles at the ceremonial ground in front of Phra Borommathat Stupa. This was the exact historical ritual site where King Sri Dharmasokaraja and ancient masters originally performed the first casting, fusing all sacred elements into a single unified alloy before distinguished guests.
Consecration Ceremonies at the Grand Viharn (B.E. 2514)
Following the casting process, all Namo coins were brought into the Grand Assembly Hall (Phra Viharn Luang) of Wat Phra Borommathat, Nakhon Si Thammarat, for a grand consecration ceremony (Phutta Phisek – Theva Phisek) on Wednesday, January 13, B.E. 2514 (1971). Public distribution began on January 16, B.E. 2514 onwards.
-
Lineage & Rituals: Performed under traditional Khao Or and Southern occult sciences, combining Buddha magic, Brahma science, and divine consecration (Theva Phisek). Archan Chum Chaikiri and Maj. Gen. Khun Phantharak Rajadej served as lay masters of ceremonies.
-
Revered Monks in Attendance: Empowered by prominent master monks of the era, including Phra Archan Nam Chinwaro (Wat Don Sala), Luang Pho Mun Yasaro (Wat Khao Daeng Tawantok), Phra Kru Kachad / Boonthong (Wat Don Sala), and Luang Pho Pal Dhammatharo (Wat Khao Or), with spiritual blessing and praise bestowed by Phor Than Khlai (Wat Suan Khan).

(Hua Namo)
(Muan San)
