History of the Creation of “Ruesi Fa Pha” (or the Supreme Guru Grandfather Ruesi Statue) at Wat Sawang Arom, Luang Pho Pae
Wat Sawang Arom (commonly known among locals as Wat Khae Thaeo or “Wat at the Row”) is located in Tambon Khun Kaeo, Amphoe Nakhon Chai Si, Nakhon Pathom Province. It is a Maha Nikaya temple. In the past, it was an abandoned temple with no maintenance for a long time until an important monk came to restore and revive it.
Luang Pho Pae, or Phra Kru Yutithammanuyut (Somthong Thammatino), is the current abbot of the temple. He was assigned by Phra Kru Wiboon Siritham (the ecclesiastical head of Khun Kaeo sub-district at the time) to take care of and act as abbot of this abandoned temple. With strong faith and diligence, he rallied the local villagers to help rebuild the temple step by step—such as digging the access road themselves (using hoes and shovels), building salas, the ubosot, and other structures. Seeing his dedication, the villagers united to request the provincial monastic council to officially appoint him as abbot.
Under Luang Pho Pae’s leadership, Wat Sawang Arom has flourished in both spiritual practice, community development, and social assistance. He is renowned as a respected monk (geji ajarn) and development monk, with devoted disciples nationwide, famous for amulets and various miracle stories.
Regarding Ruesi Fa Pha (officially called the Supreme Guru Grandfather Ruesi or Grandfather Ruesi of Wat Sawang Arom), it is the temple’s principal sacred object highly revered by locals and Luang Pho Pae’s disciples. It is nearly 100 years old (as of the latest info around 2024-2567, approximately 100 years old), considered an ancient sacred entity that has been with the temple long before or during its revival period.
- Direct creation history and details: There are no clear public records stating exactly when or by whom it was created. It is an ancient Ruesi statue closely tied to Wat Sawang Arom for many decades (at least predating or coinciding with Luang Pho Pae’s arrival). Locals believe it is a guardian spirit of the temple and village, providing protection and blessings in various aspects.
- Luang Pho Pae places great importance on this figure and holds major ceremonies annually, such as the Bowing to the Supreme Guru Grandfather Ruesi Ceremony (e.g., in 2567/2024, held June 20-22). Many disciples and prominent teachers join, including a ritual of firing 10,000 firecrackers to pay homage and seek blessings, which builds faith and attracts crowds.
This Ruesi is not newly created by Luang Pho Pae but is an original sacred relic of the temple that he has preserved, cared for, and elevated as the temple’s supreme guru. It enhances the temple’s prestige in both dharma and sacred power up to the present.

Luang Pho Pae
Wat Sawang Arom(当地人俗称 Wat Khae Thaeo 或“排排寺”)位于泰国那空帕农府那空猜西县坤凯奥区,是大宗派寺庙。
Luang Pho Pae,即 Phra Kru Yutithammanuyut(Somthong Thammatino),是现任住持。
- Luang Pho Pae
